2018 will set new benchmarks in professionalism across Gold Coast City FC and offer unrivalled value to junior players and parents, says Technical Director Jason Buchanan.
Buchanan expressed his positive outlook for the coming season following a successful Information Day at Palm Beach SC clubhouse on Saturday, which was attended by a large number of prospective junior players and their parents.
The highly credentialed Technical Director outlined lessons learned from 2017 and a raft of new initiatives that will further strengthen City’s position as the leading player development pathway on the Gold Coast.
The session included a commitment to new coaching initiatives and support programs, as well as an extensive question-and-answer session with parents, demonstrating the club’s commitment to increasing engagement with its stakeholders.
“The key message for Gold Coast City juniors this year is that we want to raise the bar across the whole football department,” Buchanan explained.
“We want to give our young players the best opportunity possible on the Gold Coast. We want to create an environment that parents and players alike want to be part of.”
Amongst the new initiatives is the development of a High Performance Centre that will include dedicated strength and conditioning sessions, nutrition guidance, player well-being focus, and increased video analysis of junior matches.
Buchanan said he was delighted by the feedback to the Brisbane Roar Academy Preparation Centre.
Gold Coast City is the exclusive Academy Partner of Brisbane Roar in the Gold Coast region, which will see a full-time Pro Youth licenced coach providing coach mentoring and oversight of all club programs for those 12 and younger.
“I understand there has been some confusion around the Brisbane Roar Academy Preparation Centre and SAP program over recent months and it was good to be able to clarify elements with the crowd today and respond to their questions.”
“The simple message to all is that the SAP and Roar Academy Preparation Centre is all under the one umbrella and it is all supported by the Brisbane Roar.”
“A certain number of players will be selected from the Academy Preparation Centre to play for our SAP team, but all players in this program will have the benefit of the Roar and Gold Coast City partnership in their development.”
“There will be several locations across the Gold Coast established for the Preparation Centre to ensure as many players as possible can access the benefits of this fantastic initiative.”
The Information Session also identified the coaching staff across the various age groups for the coming season to parents.
These appointments will be announced publicly this week on Gold Coast City FC social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
