Gold Coast City midfielder Roman Hofmann said his sides winning mentality is key ahead of Saturday’s clash with Moreton Bay United.
City host the Jets at Duncan Mckenna Field in a match that marks the half way point in the PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland season.
Moreton Bay, who are coached by Adam Piddick, the brother of City coach Grae currently sit 5th on PS4 NPL Queensland table, just one point outside the top four.
The match is also significant for City goalkeeper Matt Stein who lines up against his former side for the first time since joining City from the Jets in April.
The two sides have already met once this year when the Jets prevailed 3-2 in a pre-season friendly at Wolter Park in February.
City midfielder Roman Hofmann is under no illusions as to the threat the Jets will pose for his side.
“It’s a big game, results probably haven’t gone their way so far but we know what they’re capable of,” Hofmann said.
“We played them in pre-season as well and they were the better team on that day, we know their strengths and their weaknesses as well.”
City who are on an 11-match unbeaten run in all competitions will cement their spot as league leaders at the halfway point of the PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland season with a win on Saturday.
Hofmann says his sides mentality and depth have been key to their success so far this season.
“I think our strength is our mentality, all the boys have got that winning mentality.”
“When it comes to tough times we have to dig deep and we did that over the weekend where we were down against a tough side.”
“We’ve also got players on the bench who can come on and do the job when things are getting tough.”
“I think at the end of the day it comes down to two things which is our mentality and the depth in our team,” Hofmann concluded.
A win on Saturday will see City tighten their grip on top spot on the PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland ladder.
