Gold Coast City Captain Jamilla Riley says her side is determined to take all three points when they face Sunshine Coast FC on Sunday.
Both sides will be chasing their first PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues Queensland points of the season when they do battle at Sunshine Coast Stadium.
Despite a pair of spirited performances City were defeated by UQFC and defending champions The Gap in the competition’s opening rounds.
Sunshine Coast have suffered a pair of heavy defeats at the hands of Eastern Suburbs and SWQ Thunder.
City skipper Jamilla Riley said her side are looking to get their season on track against a Sunshine Coast side that she sees as something of an unknown.
“Having those two tough games early on has left us more determined to go in and get a win especially against a team like Sunny Coast.”
“We can’t really predict what they’re going to be like, we’re going to go in there like we would with any other team.”
“They haven’t had a win but neither have we, hopefully we can get three points from this one,” Riley said.
City coach Dave Thompson has been forced to re-jink his side ahead of the weekends clash following the departure of last season’s leading goal-scorer Steph Foreman, who has left the club due to a combination of work and study commitments.
“We’ve changed up our formation and we’re looking to test it out against Sunny Coast come Sunday,” Riley said.
“We’ve lost Steph Foreman our striker, so we’ve had to readjust a few players to other positions, which has changed up our front-line and midfield.”
Sunday’s fixture was originally scheduled for last weekend but was postponed as a result of the wild weather that swept throughout Queensland.
The wet weather has also wreaked havoc on City’s preparation ahead of Sunday’s game.
“We haven’t been training as well because of the weather,” Riley said.
“We’ve had to train indoors this week, we had an outdoor session on Thursday but it was raining so we haven’t been able to work on everything that we wanted to.”
The match will be live streamed by Football Queensland on their official Facebook page.
