Gold Coast City FC is delighted to announce the appointment of highly regarded football media specialist Michael Flynn as the club’s new Media, Marketing and Sponsorship Manager.
The appointment sees Gold Coast City become the first PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland club to create a full-time and dedicated media, marketing and sponsorship role – an acknowledgement of the club’s continued growth and ambition.
Working on a freelance basis for over a decade, Flynn has devoted himself to promoting Australian football at all levels of the game. In 2016, he served as a part-time media consultant and content creator for Gold Coast City FC.
Flynn has previously worked for Football Federation Australia social media accounts, covering major events such as the FIFA World Cup 2014, AFC Asian Cup 2016, Westfield FFA Cup and Hyundai A-League Grand Finals.
He also oversaw Football Queensland’s PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland digital content and production from 2013 to 2016, resulting in unprecedented media coverage for state league football across Queensland.
He is also an experienced journalist and media presenter, working for a range of outlets and publications across print, online, video and radio.
Flynn said he was excited by the potential of the Gold Coast City brand to establish itself as the most valuable in Queensland football market outside of the Hyundai A-League.
“Gold Coast City FC is going from strength-to-strength and I want everyone talking about Gold Coast City FC in 2018,” Flynn enthused.
“I truly believe the commercial potential of football at this level is yet to be realised. I am looking to challenge the status quo and find innovative solutions rather than trot out the same tired excuses that have held our game back for too long. I am grateful to this club and its board for sharing this vision.”
“Gold Coast City FC has excellent coaches, talented players, dedicated volunteers and an engaged membership. That has significant value and I want the Gold Coast community to feel part of that.”
“We are planning some exciting initiatives for next season that will engage our players, parents and supporters, while also providing unprecedented value to sponsors at all levels.”
Gold Coast City FC Director of Operations, Joel Mulvenney, said the newly created Marketing, Media and Sponsorship Manager role reinforces the club’s position as the Gold Coast’s preeminent football brand.
“As a club, we strive for excellence on the field by recruiting and retaining the best coaches and players. We believe it is only natural for our off-the-field team to be of a similar high standard.”
“Michael has gone above-and-beyond for the club this year and his efforts are evident in the growth of our media presence, which I believe is the best in NPL Queensland.”
“We look forward to our best season yet in 2018 and know Michael will help our supporters, sponsors and the Gold Coast community feel part of it every step of the way,” he concluded.
An extensive range of new sponsorship packages for 2018 will be available in early October covering seniors and juniors, with options to suit businesses of all sizes.
