Gold Coast City striker Jarrod Kyle says confidence is high amongst his teammates ahead of Saturday’s trip to face Brisbane City at Corporate Travel Management Stadium.
The PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues Queensland ladder leaders Gold Coast City will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to 14 matches when they face off with the Azzuri in the ‘Battle of the Cities’.
Brisbane City currently occupy 5th position on the PS4 NPL Queensland ladder, with only goal difference keeping them outside of the top four.
The trip to Corporate Travel Management Stadium has previously proved to be difficult, with Gold Coast City managing just one win in four prior visits.
That win coincided with the club’s sole PS4 NPL Queensland title – could a repeat on Saturday augur well with the team’s current Premiership push?
Gold Coast City striker Jarrod Kyle says the confidence currently in the group matches that of the 2014 season.
“We haven’t felt the way we’ve been feeling since we won it in 2014, I think it’s very similar,” Kyle said.
“We’re not getting ahead of ourselves but we’re putting ourselves into positions where we should be aiming for the best of the best.”
The two Cities have already done battle once this year when Gold Coast City secured their first win of the season with a 2-1 victory at Sports Super Centre.
Kyle said the bigger pitch at Corporate Travel Management Stadium will make Saturday an entirely different contest.
“We played them at home, It was a tighter pitch so it was more of a physical battle, we came out on top in that,
“But there were periods of the game where we were just holding them off and taking in the storm,” Kyle said.
“This weekend I think it’s going to be a bit of a different story, more of an open game giving us a chance to play our football.”
“I expect they’ll try and play quickly, their pitch up there is quite large so they’ll try and play around us in saying that we’ve got a good enough team to get around them.”
A win for Gold Coast City on Saturday will see them maintain their grip on top spot on the PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland ladder.
