Gold Coast City midfielder Teleya Reynolds said her side hold no fear heading into Sunday’s clash with ladder leading Peninsula Power.
City are looking to make it back-to-back home wins when they host the Redcliffe-based outfit at Duncan Mckenna Field.
Peninsula Power currently sit top of the PlayStation 4 NPL Women’s Queensland table, having won all six of their games to date.
City are in sixth position with a game in hand following last week’s match against Souths which was abandoned after just 30 minutes due to a lighting failure.
City midfielder Teleya Reynolds said her side would relish the chance to test themselves against the league leaders.
“Peninsula are a very strong team this year, they haven’t lost a game, so we’re looking to try and break down their defensive lines.”
“We have no fear, they are a good side and we want to test ourselves against stronger teams, so we’re up for the challenge,” Reynolds said.
City head into tomorrow’s clash well rested having, following last week’s abandonment against Souths United.
Reynolds said her side took a lot of positives from their brief outing against Souths.
“It was an intense 30 minutes so it was kind of like another training session for us and we’ve taken a few things away from that game.”
“We were really happy with the way we were playing,” Reynolds said.
Reynolds praised her side’s defensive steel and said that the team are progressing well ahead of Sunday’s clash.
“We have a really strong backline with Joy and Jamilla in the centre as well as Neesa and Lily out wide, I think we are good defensive wise, the midfields strong, but we still have room to improve.”
“We’ve been working on speed of ball movement and a lot of combination play, so hopefully we can take that out onto the field on Sunday.”
In transfer news midfielder Ena Tsuzumi has returned to the club and looks set to feature in Sunday’s match.
A win for City will see them continue their pursuit of the top four.
