Gold Coast City midfielder Jacob Boutoubia says his sides ability to take their chances will be key in Saturday’s top of the table clash with Brisbane Strikers at Perry Park.
A win for City will see them move eight points clear of Strikers at the summit of the PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues Queensland ladder.
City currently sit at the top of the league standings with 38 points to their name after 15 matches while Strikers are five points behind in second place.
City midfielder Boutoubia says it’s vital that his side take their chances in front of goal in what is a crucial match in the race for the league title.
“It’s must win for us, if we can win we’ve got an eight-point gap coming into the last six rounds making it hugely important to win this one,” Boutoubia said.
“It was always going to come down to us against Strikers or us against City or Olympic, we’ve beaten Olympic, we’ve beaten City so now hopefully we can do the job against Strikers.”
“We need to be patient and take our chances, I’m sure opportunities will come, we just have to make sure that we can just relax and take our chances when we get them.”
City and Strikers have previously met once this season when nine-man City ran out 4-2 winners at Sports Super Centre in round five.
Boutoubia expects Strikers to provide a stern test for his side but is confident City will get the job done.
“They’re going to be very physical, they play a box midfield, they’re going to be overloading, they’re going to press high, there’ll be a lot of attacking football.”
“They’re a well drilled side we’ve just got to be up for the task and hopefully we can get one over them,” Boutoubia said.
A win for City will see them extend their lead at the top of the PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues Queensland table.
